Favourite (January) Things

Happy New Year Beauties!

January is my favourite month because it's my birthday :-) I also love it because beauty houses release so many new collections and products - it's like they've pressed the reset button or something. Plus it's awards season where Hollywood rolls out the red carpet and you can't wait to see what the actresses will be wearing and not to mention their beauty looks which is what I enjoy the most! BTW my Instagram is full of Red Carpet Moments if you fancy that sort of thing you should check it out!

Now let's get onto my January favourites:

Dior Illuminating Powder in #001 'Glowing Pink' - after contemplating not using this product because of how gorgeous it is and not wanting to ruin the pretty floral embossing I took my chances. This is a finely milled face powder that doubles up as a highlighter also - as a powder I find it evens out your skin tone and as a highlighter it gives off a beautiful silver pink reflection when used on the high points of your face. I believe this is a limited edition product from Dior and part of their Spring 2016 Makeup Collection - 'Glowing Gardens' so if you fancy one for your collection I'd be very quick!

Tom Ford Lip Color in #13 'Blush Nude' - a recommendation from celebrity makeup artist, Mary Wiles (check out my Beauty Makeover with Mary Wiles post if you haven't done so already for tips & tricks) this lipstick is more pricey than others but so worth it - highly pigmented and long-lasting. It's a beautiful nude pink or a 'your-lips-but-better' shade. I wear this lipstick on its own or with Charlotte Tilbury's 'Pillow Talk' lip liner.

Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré - another recommendation from Mary, this Parisian pharmacy staple is a creamy and hydrating moisturiser that you can use day and night after cleansing. Mary used this on me before makeup and I have been doing the same ever since - it really hydrates your skin and makes you look like you've slept for hours and it smells delicious too!

Rimmel Colour Rush Trio Eyeshadow in #624 'Lynx' - this was a birthday gift from a friend who knows me so well because I love Rimmel eyeshadows plus it comes in my signature colours - chocolate browns! All three shadows can work individually or together for a more smokey look - they are super soft and blendable and easy to carry around as it's so compact.

Avène Eau Thermale (Thermal Spring Water) - throughout January in Australia there's a lot of tennis going on and I was lucky enough to catch a few games at the Sydney tournament. This was in my handbag and go-to hydrating mist throughout the very hot day - not only did it hydrate and refresh it also prevented my makeup from melting off my face! Since then I've been using it to spritz on during the day when I'm feeling tired or to refresh my makeup before touch-ups.

Cecil B. DeMille - The Art of the Hollywood Epic by Cecilia DeMille Presley & Mark A. Viera - I was gifted this gorgeous book for my birthday from my sister. This book celebrates the legendary filmmaker and the history of Hollywood and features cinematic treasures from the Cecil B. DeMille archives - storyboard art, concept paintings and lots of photographic imagery. If you're a fan of Hollywood Epic films like I am then I would highly recommend checking this book out.
